Apple Crumble

This homemade Apple Crumble recipe is one of our favorites. It is simple to make, which is one of the many reasons it is one of our favorites. It can be served as a yummy snack with coffee or for dessert with a glass of milk. You can serve it warm or cold and add a scoop of ice cream. It is so versatile! Its sweet, caramelized apple filling and crumbly topping crunch are delicious! Enjoy.

  • 1 Ceramic baking dish You can use a round pie dish or a rectangle 9X13 dish
  • 1 Apple peeler
  • 2 Large mixing bowls

Ingredients
  

  • Crumble Topping Ingrediencies
  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 Cup brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 Teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ Teaspoon salt
  • ½ Teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 Tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • Filling Ingrediencies
  • 2 ½ Pounds of apples peeled cored, and sliced or diced (about 6 large apples)
  • ½ Cup granulated sugar or brown sugar Optional to mix sugars
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice or orange juice
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch or flour
  • ½ Teaspoon salt
  • 1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly butter the baking dish and set aside.
  • Crumble Topping Instructions
  • In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon. Whisk to combine.
  • Then, add the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Whisk to combine.
  • Lastly, add the melted butter and stir with a fork until crumbly.
  • Filling Instructions
  • In a large bowl, combine apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and ground cinnamon. Use a fork to combine.
  • Then add apples, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, salt, and ground cinnamon. Use a fork to combine.
  • Transfer apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top of the filling.
  • Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
