Simple Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is one of my favorite desserts, delicious, rich, moist chocolate chip cookies! Simple but beyond satisfying, add a side of milk or coffee and enjoy the moment. You can also prepare the cookie dough and gift it to friends or family, it is a sweet gesture, and I am sure they will love it.

Equipment

  • sifter optional
  • hand mixer
  • spatula
  • mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 + ½ cups all-purpose Four (300 grams)
  • 1 cup unsalted softened butter (225 grams) 2 sticks
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (200 grams)
  • ½ cup white granulated sugar (100 grams)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (10ML)
  • ½ tsp salt (2 grams)
  • 1 tsp baking soda (5 grams)
  • 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips (350 grams) about 2 cups
  • ½ cup walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine and mix the softened butter with the white and brown sugars in a large bowl using a hand mixer.

    2. Add the vanilla extract and the eggs, and mix until combined.

      3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, and salt. The optional step is to sift the flour to break up any clumps.

        4. This step is optional; sift the flour to break up any clumps.

          5. Add the flour, about a third to a fourth of it at a time to the wet ingredients, and mix until combined, do not over-mix.

            6. Next, add the chocolate chips and nuts (optional), and fold the chocolate chips into the dough until distributed as evenly as possible.

              7. Butter cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper. Use a large spoon and scoop about two tablespoons of dough.

                8. This step is optional; roll the dough into round balls for fluffy cookies.

                  9. Line the cookie dough on the cookie sheet. Leave space in between cookies. They will expand.

                    10. Bake for about 9 - 11 minutes, depending on the size of the cookie and oven. When you see the edges turning light golden brown or insert a toothpick, if it comes out clean, they are ready!

                      11. Let the cookies sit on the cookie sheet for about 2-3 more minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack.

                        Notes

                        For a healthier option
                        • Instead of brown sugar and white sugar, swap for coconut sugar.
                        • Low carb option - use almond flour; this will change the volume and texture.
                        • Use cacao chocolate chips or dark cocoa chocolate chips without added sugar.
Thank you, inthekitchenwithmatt.com, for sharing this family favorite; this is our number one favorite dessert.
